These Walls – their pall
of predictable blue –
Darken steadily into solid night
And crumble into rubbles of despair.
Yet rubble makes the bed of Roman roads
Where legion'd possibilities muster.
They take their aim at the stones that remain,
Blast upon the ramparts a vibrant day,
And call their act
The Discovery of Play.
